We are welcoming a new mural to the neighborhood on our East-facing wall!
This is a project by Mending Walls (@mendingwallsRVA). The mural explores the theme of CONSISTENCY — the third in a four-part Trust Building/s series around the city.
Meet the artists during the mural unveiling. Your Dandelion Health doctors will be there too!

Seasonal Vaccines
Recommendation:
We recommend everyone ages 6 months and up, with rare exceptions, to get the Flu and COVID-19 vaccines now to protect you and your loved ones over the next 6 months. Scroll down to our Sep 2025 entry for our philosophy on vaccines.
For the COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 and up, there’s a new vaccine available this year that has a lower dose and may cause less of a side effect. We recommend this one particularly if you’ve gotten fatigue or severe illness feeling after the vaccine in previous years. It’s Moderna’s MNextSpike and is available most places.
For the Flu vaccine, there are LOTS of options, including nasal spray instead of a shot.
If you have specific questions about a vaccine, reach out to us!
Where and how to get the vaccines?
No prescription needed
Availability is based on age:
Ages 12 and up: Any pharmacy
Younger than 12 years: Check with your local pharmacy.
Ages 6-23 months:
If your local pharmacy does not carry the vaccine for your child’s age group, these locations will:
Flu vaccine: Health department or Bremo pharmacy
COVID-19 vaccine: Health department
Cost:
If you have insurance, these should be covered at a reasonable cost
If the cost is high with your insurance, you can compare retail prices at different pharmacies at goodrx.com - they should range $130-150 for Covid-19 and $20-30 for flu.
If you don’t have insurance, you can get COVID-19 and Flu vaccines for $20-$30 each at the Health Department.
Children who have Medicaid or no insurance can get the Flu Vaccine at Bremo Pharmacy for $10.

It’s insurance season!
At Dandelion Health, we provide comprehensive primary care whether you have insurance or not. For unforeseen high-cost catastrophes, we do recommend having some form of insurance or medical cost-sharing.
Open Enrollment for insurance starts Nov 1. If you’ve been wanting to explore changes to your insurance status, this is the time to start looking: https://www.healthcare.gov/quick-guide/
NOTE: Some insurances are very restrictive in who can place orders for you (like imaging tests and referrals). If selecting a new plan, please make sure the plan does not require your ordering primary care physician to be in network in order for them to honor a referral to an in-network specialist.
If you do not want or cannot afford insurance, one alternative you can explore is medical cost-sharing via a Health Share. Information about these: https://hsaforamerica.com/blog/the-hsa-for-america-healthshare-plan-comparison-guide/
Lastly, happy Election Day! Please vote on Nov 3.
